Design Process

1-2 Site Survey & Analysis .png

Starting with a comprehensive onsite consultation this provides the perfect opportunity for me to understand your vision, and budget. Sometimes the client has a very clear set of specifications, however in most cases it can be difficult to visualise just how the garden will look and function. We will conduct a detailed site analysis and create a design brief together. I will walk you through my portfolio for inspiration, ask you some clarifying lifestyle questions. By the end of our time together, you will start to feel an elevated level of confidence and excitement, and I will be equipped with enough information to take us to stage 2.

STAGE 1 - SITE ANALYSIS & CONSULTATION

STAGE 2 - CONCEPT PLAN

Following our onsite consultation, I will craft an initial proposal for us to review together on Zoom or in person. We all ingest information differently and have different levels of appreciation for technology. I have us covered as I use two design approaches in parallel; technical pencil drawings and 2D and 3D computer generated visuals. Even before the drawing phase, I get to work creating inspirational mood boards. After we review the proposed design together, I take detailed note of your feedback and any desired changes in order to create the final concept design.

STAGE 3 - DETAILED DESIGN

I will get to work transforming the agreed concept design into an detailed 2D and 3D masterplan. Material palettes. A planting palette will be added into the proposal pack. It is around this time that my clients start getting impatient as they can't wait to realise their dream outside space sooner than later. I'm grateful to be part of the exciting journey.

STAGE 4 - TECHNICAL DESIGN

Once approved the design is then developed into technical drawings forming a pack for your review; which includes working drawings, setting out plans, lighting and level plans and specifications.

STAGE 5 - PLANTING

We work closely with the client to create the planting plan and schedule listing exact names, sizes and quantities used for setting out plants. Detailed photographic images will enable you to truly visualise the postcard beauty and layout of your garden transformation. I will also provide you with a maintenance schedule so you can nurture your garden as it grows and develops.

STAGE 6 - CONSTRUCTION

We then contact a list of trusted professional landscape contractors to tender for the project. We are looking for a 'like for like' quotation for the work. Once the terms are agreed and the contractor selected they can commence work on bringing your dream garden to life. It is your choice whether we oversee the project from inception to completion, alternatively you may have a preferred contractor and wish to manage the build independently. Whichever you decide we will monitor the build at various stages ensuring the design is completed as per the agreed plans.
